Customer story

A Singapore communications agency puts research and media monitoring on schedule

Before client work can start, the agency's teams need research in hand: industry news, public mentions of the topics they manage, and topical digests assembled from many sources. Olano runs those briefs as standing research agents — each one gathers its sources, summarizes them with citations, and delivers on schedule, so the team starts from a briefing instead of a blank page.

The challenge

Like most agencies, the team ran on recurring research: what happened in a client's industry this week, who said what about the topics they manage, what changed since the last report. Assembling that by hand meant the same loop every week — searching, skimming, copying links, writing a summary — repeated across many sources. It was time-consuming, it was easy to miss an item that mattered, and because client reporting and decisions waited on it, it was always urgent. Monitoring that should have been routine kept turning into a scramble.

What we built

We set up standing research agents on Olano's web-research and news connectors. Each agent owns one brief: it runs as a scheduled task, gathers and filters its sources, and writes a digest with citations, delivered before the team needs it. The agents run read-only, and a person reviews every digest before anything reaches a client.

Media monitoring

Agents watch news and public mentions of the topics the agency manages, filter out the noise, and surface what changed — with a link to every source.

  • Runs via scheduled tasks and proactive monitoring
  • Every item cited back to its source
  • Filtered so the team reads only what matters

Recurring research digests

Topical briefs assembled from many sources into one summarized digest, ready to feed client reporting and decision-making.

  • Summaries with sources, not link dumps
  • Delivered on schedule, before client work starts
  • Reviewed by a human before anything reaches a client

Read-only research, approvals for everything else

Research is the safest place to start with agents, and this deployment is built that way on purpose.

Read-only by design

The research agents run at trust levels 0–1 (Observer and Assistant): they read, gather, and summarize. They don't send, post, or change anything on their own.

Approval gates on anything outbound

Any outbound action — an email, a post, a client-facing message — waits for human approval by default. Nothing leaves the workspace without sign-off.

Immutable audit trail

Every action the agents take is recorded in an immutable audit trail, so the team can see exactly what was gathered, when, and what was produced from it.

Private, isolated workspace

The agency's agents, documents, and connector tokens live in their own private, isolated workspace, encrypted at rest and in transit.
